Back in Montana - Zurück in Montana

 Today we arrived in Montana again. It is still warm (106° F) but it is getting cooler and cooler and lighter and lighter.

Heute sind wir wieder in Montana angekommen. Es ist immer noch warm (40° C) aber es wird immer kühler und die Sonne steht höher und höher am Himmel.

 Today we drove mainly  through North Dakota.

Heute sind wir die meiste Zeit durch Nord Dakota gefahren.

 July 4th we celebrated in Cincinnati with some great fire works (it would be too light in Alaska at this time).

Den 4 Juli (Amerikanischer Nationalfeiertag) verbrachten wir in Cincinnati mit einem tollen Feuerwerk (in Alaska ist es zu dieser Jahreszeit zu hell für ein Feuerwerk).

Some dear friends from Abingdon were able to meet us at the Creation Museum and we were so blessed and encouraged to spend some time with them. We hadn't seen them for the last 3 years. Thank you so much. 

Gute Freunde aus Abingdon/Virginia haben sich auf den Weg gemacht, uns im Creation Museum  zu treffen. Es war so gut sie zu sehen und wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit zusamen. Wir hatten sie seit drei Jahren nicht gesehen.

Farther North we come, the roads are getting worth. We also drive with a 24 seater, it is already a little bit older. I guess that's the reason why we have a mechanic in our team who is changing parts for it on a almost daily base. We are joking, if the bus made it back to Anchorage, it should be brand new :-)

Je weiter nördlicher wir kommen, desto schlechter werden die Straßen wieder. Wir fahren unter anderem mit einem Kleinbus, der schon etwas älter ist. Das ist wohl auch der Grund, warum wir einen Mechaniker im Team haben. Fast täglich werden Teile ausgetauscht und wir scherzen schon, wenn der Bus es tatsächlich bis Anchorage zurück schafft, ist er nagelneu.

 In Iowa, two nights ago it was really hot, some decided to sleep outside.

Vor zwei Tagen war es auch nachts immer noch so heiß, dass einige entschieden, draußen zu schlafen.

Every Morning we have to pack up the trailer again with our tents, sleepingbags etc. 

Jeden Morgen neu wird der Anhänger mit unseren Sachen voll gepackt.

Halbzeit

Nur in aller Kürze hier vom Campingplatz in Illinois bevor es Morgen Früh wieder losgeht. Das Indianercamp in Missouri war toll. Über 100 verschiedene Indianerstämme aus Kanada und den USA waren vertreten. Es war herausfordernd und ermutigend. Viele unserer Jugendlichen haben Schritte im Glauben gewagt, einige das erste Mal. Man darf sagen, dass von den meisten der Alltag von Drogen- und Alkoholmissbrauch und  was daraus folgt, bestimmt ist. Da kann nur noch einer helfen - Jesus Christus!
Morgen geht es zum Creation Museum in der Nähe von Cincinnati und dann wieder ab nach Hause.

Finn macht die Tour auch gut mit - hier jagt er gerade eine Bisamratte :-)

Die Botschaft ist erfrischend klar - hier wird nicht um den heißen Brei geredet - Jesus ist der Sieger - und möchte es auch in deinem Leben sein!

Die Temperaturen von täglich über 40° C bringen uns ins Schwitzen.

Auf einem Rastplatz beim Mittagessen kommen unsere zwei Inuitmädchen mit jemanden ins Gespräch. Sie erzählen von ihrem Alltag, die Verarbeitung von Robben und Walroßen.

Diese drei Burschen haben wir auf dem Weg in unser Zimmer entdeckt. Mama Waschbär hat die ganze Lage sicher aus einem Abflussrohr beobachtet.

Bei der Hitze kommt jede Abkühlung gelegen.

Fort Collins, Colorado

Yesterday we arrived in Fort Collins/Colorado. We are staying at the Property of "Walker Mower" Mr. Walker Junior was teaching in an Alaskan village the last years so we also got a tour of the factory.


Gestern kamen wir in Fort Collins/Colorado an. Wir haben auf dem Gelände von "Walker Mower" übernachtet. Herr Walker Junior war die letzten Jahre Lehrer in einer Dorfschule in Alaska und so bekamen wir auch eine Tour durch die Fabrik.

Each teen had the great opportunity to take a private ten minute flight over Fort Collins!


Alle Teens hatten die großartige Möglichkeit einen zehnminütigen Flug über Fort Collins zu genießen!

Everybody is still alive and happy. We left the honeymoon stage today. Everybody is getting a little more tired, the temperatures are getting hot and it takes a while until 50 people work together as a team. Your prayer is appreciated.

Alle sind wohlauf. Heute haben wir die Phase "Flitterwochen" verlassen. Jeder ist etwas mehr müde, je weiter gen Süden wir kommen, desto wärmer wird es und es brauch Zeit, bis 50 Leute zu einem Team zusammen wachsen. Dein Gebet ist uns herzlich willkommen.

The whole day today we drove trough the beautiful state of Montana.

Den ganzen Tag über haben wir den schönen Bundesstaat Montana durchquert.

A few miles befor we went into Wyoming one tire from the trailer got shredded. We could fix it and we are continuing our journey to Missouri. Tomorrow we are heading to Colorado.

Ein paar Kilometer vor dem Bundestaat Wyoming hat es uns einen Anhängerreifen zerfetzt. Wir konnten das Problem schnell beheben und unsere Reise nach Missouri fortsetzen. Morgen geht es nun erst mal nach Colorado.

Britisch Columbia/Canada

Ein kurzes Update aus British Columbia. 2518 km sind wir schon gekommen und noch mehrere Tausend liegen vor uns. Wetter und Stimmung sind gut, auch wenn wir natürlich viel Zeit im Wagen verbringen. Die letzten zwei Tage haben wir eine Menge Viecher gesehen.
Das Ziel für morgen ist Edmonton, weitere 590 km. Jetzt aber ab in die Falle, ich bin auch ein Fahrer. Eure Gebete würden wir zu schätzen wissen, bitte betet für Sicherheit auf den Straßen und eine gesegenete Zeit mit den fast 40 Teens.

A little update from British Columbia. 1574 miles are behind us and many more in front of us. Weather and atmosphere are great. We have seen lots of wildlife the last two days.
The goal tomorrow is Edmonton, another 590 km. Lets go to bed, I'm also one of the drivers. We would appreciate your prayers for safety and a blessed time with almost 40 teens.

Warriors On Wheels! - Kämpfer auf Rädern!

The last few days we attended a ministry training. When you live in a village and you just can leave by airplane around 3 times a year you really appreciate the spot they picked for the training - Homer. A little town at the coast. This is probably the place every outsider thinks the whole state of Alaska looks like. Mountains, water, eagle. A welcome change to the trillion moskitos and the silty Yukon in Galena. We enjoyed it! Today we took off to Soldatna. Here starts our "Warrior On Wheels" Journey. 38 teenager drive with a team in vans from Alaska all the way down to Missouri to attend a Warrior Leadership Training. We would appreciate your prayers the next few weeks. Martin has a stiff neck the last to days and the airplanes haven't been in time to fly in the kids so we are already behind the schedule. It sound promising. May our Lord use us for his glory!

Die letzten Tage waren wir auf einer Fortbildung. Wenn man in einem Dorf lebt, dass man 3x im Jahr mit dem Flugzeug verlassen kann, dann weiß man es wirklich zu schätzen, dass unsere Organisation Homer als Ort gewählt hat. Homer ist eine kleine Stadt an der Küste. Wie im Bilderbuch sieht es dort aus, so wie sich wohl alle Alaska vorstellen, Berge, Wasser und Adler! Eine willkommene Abwechslung zu den Trillionen von Mücken und dem schlammigen Yukon in Galena. Wir haben es sehr genossen. Heute sind wir nach Soldatna aufgebrochen. Dort startet unsere "Kämpfer auf Rädern" Reise. 38 Teenager fahren mit einem Team in Kleinbussen runter nach Missouri auf ein Leiterschaftscamp. Wir werden die nächsten vier Wochen nicht sehr oft online sein. Aber ein anderes Team schreibt einen Blog (leider nur auf English), falls ihr uns auf unserer Tour folgen möchtet: http://warrriorsonwheels.blogspot.com (mit 3 r's). Wir würden euer Gebet besonders die nächsten Wochen sehr zu schätzen wissen. Seit zwei Tagen habe ich einen steifen Hals und die Flugzeuge hatten gestern viel Verspätung so dass wir schon hinter der Planung sind. Das hört sich vielversprechend an ;-)

Silke's chicks

We just got three chicks last Saturday. They are some of the most adorable creatures on earth. But I guess all baby animals are super cute. We have them in a big cardboard box upstairs in our dining room, because we have to make sure that the dog doesn't get them. We love our dog but for some reason he doesn't know the difference between birds, such as ducks and geese, that we want him to retrieve and birds, like our chicks and chicken, which we love and which are not to be retrieved at all times ;-) . But anyway back to our chicks now. The other night we had them out of the box, running around on the table. It is just so much fun to watch them. We got them their little cup with water and another one with their feed. But what is that with them? They had to be at exactly the same spot at their feeder. Three chicks, a big enough bowl of feed for all of them with ample of space. But for some reason they needed exactly the same spot. Funny and stupid chicks I thought. There was so much feed, plenty for all of them but they were just looking for the things the others had. Well you probably know were I am going with my thoughts. It really made me thinking of us humans. Don't we often do exactly the same thing? Looking at what other people have; wanting to have exactly the same and missing out on the things God has placed right there for us. Well, you got me thinking there too. When I saw those chicks pushing and kicking each other away just to get what the others have made me smile. They are just stupid chicks. But reminding myself of not doing the same thing is kind of really hard at times. How about you?
Well I guess, good thing God placed those chicks in my life.  And don't get me wrong, I really love my chicks :-)
