Spring Carnival

 Last weekend we had Spring Carnival in Galena. It was right in front of our house on the frozen Yukon River :-)
We had a good time and it was really good to get to know the community better. Following some commented pics.

 We had some dog sled races. Silke helped out some friends taking care of the dogs after the race.

 Another sport was snowshoe racing. Finn did well with the second place. The most important point was probably getting up again quickly after falling several times.

 Martin attended the 5 mile snowshoe race. He trained really hard the day before for 30 minutes ;-)
Goal was to cross the finish line, which he did after 69 minutes and made the 8th place.

During the weekend Martin was in charge as time keeper for the dog sled races.

Martin didn´t attend the dog sled race, but he had an experience a few weeks ago. A friend asked him if he could help to train his dogs. He was willing to do that even though they had some language problems, since Martin can´t speak sign language (his friend is deaf) and there was no written manual... Another friend gave him an important advice a week before "No matter what, hold on!" So Martin did that a few times, when he bumped trees and the sled flipped over a few times. But after a difficult beginning he enjoyed it.

Finn celebrated his 6th birthday at the end of March. We had a nice dinosaur birthday party with many friends.

A month ago Finn had a science fair project together with his friend at the kindergarten (will the balloon rise, if we use yeast, sugar and warm water?).
